Mark Susser CLIA, CA LIC # 5809
Landscape Architect

Mark Susser is a landscape architect who specializes in irrigation design and water management. His diverse background and experience ranges from engineering to architecture.

Good enough is not a phrase in Mark’s vocabulary. His thoughtful and precise attention to detail has evolved from years of work in engineering and the software industry. He is always looking for the Big Idea.

As a project manager for over 20 years he is noted for thorough and organized project team coordination, his ability to complete projects in a timely and budget-conscious manner while maintaining long-term relationships with repeat clients.

Mark has designed and implemented many irrigation projects and continually looks for and adopts technology to develop innovative technical solutions. Besides completing his studies at UCLA Extension's Landscape Architecture program, Mark is a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) and also holds degrees in Electronic Engineering (BSEE) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). He is a member of American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the Irrigation Association (IA), US Green Building Council (USGBC) and is a Director in the Architecture Foundation of Los Angeles, (AFLA). Mark teaches Irrigation Design at UCLA-Extension and was recently certified by the City of Santa Monica as a "sustainable landscape professional with water management certification."

John Tikotsky, ASLA
John Tikotsky is a landscape architect and irrigation designer with over 17 years experience in solving a wide range of both landscape, irrigation and environmental design issues in the Los Angeles area. He has extensive experience in the design and installation of projects, including irrigation, site analysis; schematic design; proposal development and presentation; construction documents and specifications; construction administration and project management. John has an innate design sense and keen ability to interpret individual client needs to produce high-end quality design. John draws on his previous career in animation and theme park construction.

Prior to working with Atomic Irrigation, John worked with Kennedy Landscape Design Associates, Edward Hume and Associates, Bridgers and Bridgers Landscape Architects and the James Dean Group. Several of John’s designs have been featured in recent Robinson’s Garden Tours.

In addition to his work on residential and commercial projects, John is expanding his work in sustainable and restorative designs, including public education and demonstration sites with interpretive displays, school garden designs, and issue research for oak habitat preservation.

He received his Associate of Arts Degree from Pierce College in Horticultural Studies and completed his training through a six-year apprenticeship in Landscape Architectural firms. He is also a licensed landscape architect. Recently, his continuing education includes participation in the Green Building Conference and the Landscape Entomology Symposium in 2003.

John is an active member of the Southern California Chapter of ASLA, participating in many of the chapter’s programs and events. He was elected to the Executive Board for two terms, 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 representing the Southern California Chapter on the California Council. In John’s second term, John not only served as Treasurer on the Council, but also played a key role in the state-wide conference held in San Diego in the Spring of 2003. In addition to his participation in ASLA, John is also an active member in the Society of Ecological Restoration on both a state and local level.
